Make a Teen Club Committee an active part of your Lodge.
Many years ago, in 1991, while serving as Governor of Colonial
Heights, VA Lodge #1783, I became interested in establishing a teen club at our lodge.
Being a member of
the ritual staff, I wrote the basic outline of by-laws for a teen club, and also wrote an enrollment ceremony. I submitted
the draft to Mooseheart, and it was not only accepted, but the initial by-laws were a copy almost word for word. Since
then, Mooseheart has edited, up-dated, and established the by-laws accross the board for all Lodges & Chapters.
Most GMA members that I know have a deep belief in the added value a Teen Club Committee can bring Lodges and
Chapters. A well runTeen Club offers more that just another level of family involvement to our fraternity. Such a club
is a meaningful training and recruitment ground for future lodge and chapter members.
It is
my hope that the day will come when all lodges will have one. The proper guidence of all our children should be of primary
importance to all Moose Members. They are our hope of the future. As stated in our "9 O'clock Ceremony",
"for they are like the Kingdom of Heaven".
Robert R. Goldsmith, of the Ohio Moose Association has prepared a
25 page booklet entitled “A Guide to Starting a Teen Club”.
THIS BOOKLET IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AT THIS
TIME.
