---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stone Mountain #21 Raffle Helps Ritual Team AND Kids
When Ron McDonald started the raffle for the 42” flat screen TV, the point was to help raise money for the ritual team to go to Anaheim for the 2011 competition. The enthusiastic reception from members means that about 25% of the money needed was raised on this one raffle – the support is greatly appreciated! But, when the winning ticket was drawn at the Legion Celebration at Forest Park Lodge on November 20th, there was a spontaneous round of applause – the winner was…the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes at Dalton/Chatsworth. It seems that several members had purchased tickets and put the Youth Homes as the name on the ticket. As it turns out, the ticket purchaser was Mableton’s Ray Chafin. When Ron called the Sheriff’s Youth Home office the next Monday to explain that they were the lucky recipient of the TV, the administrator there almost cried. It seems that one of the TVs had suddenly quit the week before, and she had been working on finding something in the budget that could wait so the TV could be replaced. Thanks Brother Chafin for helping out our Georgia kids!
