Our 2010 International Convention will occur, in its entirety and on schedule, July 1 – 7, In Nashville, Tennessee!

Only now, we think our members will enjoy it even more as we will be right in the middle of all the excitement – in downtown Music City, USA!

For the younger and fitter among us, most of our downtown venues will be within walking distance of each other; for those of us who tire more easily, there will be plenty of free shuttle service between designated Moose Convention hotels and Convention sites.

Following our meeting on May 11 with Nashville officials, which was personally attended by Mayor Karl Dean, here is our update:

REGARDING HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS:

  • Everyone who was booked at Gaylord Opryland will be moved to other hotels. ALL RE-BOOKINGS WILL BE HANDLED BY MOOSE INTERNATIONAL. You will be contacted directly by the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau's Housing Office regarding your new hotel assignment and will be requested to furnish credit card information to your new hotel within a specific time period.

  • If you are holding reservations at any hotel OTHER THAN Gaylord Opryland, your reservation is in force, at that same hotel; NO ACTION is required on your part.
  • All rooms being re-booked to a downtown hotel will pay the same $99 per night that they would have been charged at Opryland – even though many of these properties usually command substantially more.
  • If you have NOT already booked a room and wish to attend the Convention, you may still obtain a reservation by calling 630-966-2213.  You MUST be registered for the Convention in order to obtain any room reservations.
  • Please DO NOT contact downtown hotels yourself; you will NOT be able to reserve a downtown hotel room independently.  Moose International is currently holding ALL space.

REGARDING BUSINESS SESSIONS & DINING FUNCTIONS:

  • All General Sessions of both the Loyal Order of Moose and the Women of the Moose, and Joint General Sessions of men and women combined, will occur in the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
  • Convention Registration, Moose International Offices and Displays, and the Moose Gift Store will also be held at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
  • Women of the Moose Academy of Friendship Breakfast and Conferral will take place at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
  • The Nashville Convention Center will host the Women of the Moose College of Regents Luncheon and Conferral, Star Recorder Breakfast and Session, All Panel Sessions, Pilgrim Luncheon, Fellowship Breakfast, and the Moose Legion Breakfast and Meeting.
  • The Moose Legion Conference (Topical Sessions & MLEC Training) and Ritual Competition will be held at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown.

REGARDING EVENING ENTERTAINMENT:

  • While the location of the Moose Legion Fun Night on Friday, July 2 (with Rick K and the All-Nighters) is yet to be determined, the Higher Degree Event on Saturday, July 3 (with The Bellamy Brothers and Gary Mule Deer) and the Moose 25 Club Party (with Playing By Air and comic headliner Mrs. Hughes) on Tuesday, July 6, will occur at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
  • The Circle of Distinction and Heart of Distinction evening on the General Jackson Showboat, Sunday evening, July 4, will take place as planned.
  • Moose Night at Grand Ole Opry is still scheduled for Monday, July 5 at the Grand Ole Opry House – but that is subject to change.

FOR ALL CONVENTION ATTENDEES TRAVELING BY AIR:

  • But please note: many of the Convention hotels offer complimentary shuttle service to and from the hotel and Nashville Airport; contact the hotel at which you’re booked.

FOR ALL CONVENTION ATTENDEES TRAVELING BY CAR:

  • We realize that parking at Gaylord Opryland Resort was being offered at $3 per day.  We have been guaranteed that no re-located hotel parking will be charged at any more than $5 per day.  A number of the new hotel locations offer free parking to guests.

MORE TO COME – KEEP WATCHING THIS SPACE!
