Our mid year state convention is recent history. I don't know about you, but
I had a great time! I wanted to thank all of you for actively participating during my Gimme 5 report to the delegates and
hope you pass along this email to your district lodges and chapters. To summarize for those who weren't there, our LOOM and WOTM members have contributed over $51,000 to date and based on feedback I got during the convention, I am confident the giving will build some momentum going forward. Through the generosity of the folks who visited
the District 1 hospitality suite and participated in the 50:50 raffle, my wife Terry had the match to the ticket drawn. She
asked me what she should do with the winnings and I said "donate it to Gimme 5" - so she did! With the other activities
D1 had in combination with Terry's donation, Ronald McDonald will write a check to Gimme 5 for a little over $200. And,
he promised to add another donation of $182.50 from our District funds to help support tthe effort! My friend Robert Hill in District 2 told me they decided to raise some money for Gimme 5 by creating a "jail", a sherriff, and a posse of appropriately dressed dance hall girls to fit their western theme. By arresting some unsuspecting "outlaws" and collecting reward and bail money, they raised $750! Amazing effort and a whole lotta fun! The next morning, I had to assess Santa Claus a $50 fine for being on the lam during the manhunt for him so the total monies rose to $800 which will go to Gimme 5! In all, it was a great time to be a Moose. The fun activities, the fellowship and the good nature of all those who participated made me feel good about our state association because of the members who make it work and grow. I want to ask again that you distribute this email to your District members to make them aware of what it means to be a Moose and how self satisfying it is to be associated with a group of people who truly care, who really step up to support our child city and city of contentment, and, who really understand what it means when we say "you can't stop a charging Moose" - especially those GAMOOSE!. One last thing - congratulations to David Smoot and Don "WWD" Gilmer for submitting the winning bid for the Mooseheart Rambler football helmet auctioned by District 1. Don graciously called me last night (about 11P in the Netherlands) to gloat and to let me know he hard no hard feelings partnering with David to beat my second place bid. However, the Ramblers benefit by receiving a generous $2000 check from two exceptional and gracious GA Moose members! Hey D2 - can we have a prison set up during the next conference? Gimme 5!! I want to help but how do I donate? First, we at Moose Charities want to thank you for your kindness and generosity. Donating to this project will help to ensure that we are able to continually care for our children. There are several ways you can donate to the program. Please review the following suggestions and if there are any questions please contact Moose Charities at 630-966-2200. Ways to Give… 1. At the international convention you can visit the Moose Charities booth and donate using cash, check, or charge. 2. You can mail Moose Charities cash or a check at any time. Important Things to Know!! 1. Donations made to the Gimme 5 project are segregated from all other donations to ensure that they are not used for any other purpose. 2. When donating to the Gimme 5 project please specify in your donation that the funds are to be used for Gimme 5. Gimme 5!! Direct Debit Application Help us raise money for Mooseheart and Moosehaven by enrolling in our Direct Debit program. How does this program help? Processing a direct debit costs Moose Charities significantly less than processing a check. Of course, we value all donations but the more we save the more we can offer to our children. Best of all this service is completely free to you and can be cancelled at any time.
