When you arrive at Mooseheart you should stop at our Information Center.

The historyof Mooseheart is a historyof great men and women of the Loyal Order of Moose who through their dedication and hard work have made Mooseheart a fine home for children.  Since its beginning in 1913, and throughout these many years, Mooseheart can be proud of its achievements and accomplishments.

Is is difficult to single out any one person to credit the success for Mooseheart because of themany outstanding men and women involved in the development of Mooseheart.  The one man who is credited for Mooseheart's beginning is James J. Davis.  Working together with him and following him were many distinguished individuals.

Mooseheart occupies 1,200 acres of fertile Fox River Valley land.  Of this total, approximately 330 acres are used for campus purposes and the remainder for farming operations.  There is also a 23-acre lake that is used for many recreational activities.

There are many buildings on the ooseheart campus.  These include student homes, schools, health care facility, stores, farms, and administration.  The combination of proud traditional granite buildings, and the new brick construction, creates an atmosphere of pride in the Mooseheart community.

The Arizona-New Mexico home is one of our newly remodeled homes done in the South Western decor inside and outside.

Students are placed in homes according to their sex, age, and grade.  Each home has Family Teachers who supervise and train the children in many facets of group living, growth and development.  Family Teachers work with administration and other departments such as the health center, school, clinical services and church, etc.

Mothers who come to Mooseheart may live in separate areas from their children, but theysee and visit each other as frequently as their jobs and student schedules permit.

Students are required to attend services according to their family's choice.  Protestant and Catholic services are held on Sundays and Holy Days in the House of God.  Transportation is provided to other local houses of worship.  Students participate in the services as ushers, mass servers, lectors, and commentators.  Respect for the Church is part of the religious training at Mooseheart.
